My First GT ELS Class -Caroline

I first took GT ELS my sophomore year. I took a course entitled "Religion, Conflict and Peace" through Harvard. I remember being excited that I could finally do learning on my own, and get to choose what I studied. I've never considered myself to be deeply religious, but I was very interested in this topic: religion has influenced human behavior throughout history. Ms. Dunley also convinced me that it would be interesting- and it was. The knowledge I learned from this course I've continued to use to this day

This course satisfied my "interest in problem-solving and applying concepts." It covered a variety of topics and case studies, examining real religious conflicts around the world. There were discussion boards where students were required to answer questions, and then respond to other's comments. This aspect really solidified my learning.

I reccomend taking ELS if you have the opportunity: there are so many courses available and the learning is something you don't get to experience in any other classes in high school. It also prepares you for college, as much of the course is self guided.
